7 Days in Thailand: Discover What to Do!

We begin our 7 days in Thailand with an exciting visit to the Mae Klong Train Market, a unique place in the world where the stalls are literally set up over the train tracks. It’s a surreal experience watching the vendors quickly dismantle their stalls as the train approaches, only to set them up again as if nothing had happened. Next, we head to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, where you can observe local life while cruising through its canals in a traditional Thai boat. This stop will immerse you in the vibrant local culture and provide an authentic experience.

After this cultural immersion, we’ll make a brief stop for lunch at a local restaurant where you can savor delicious Thai cuisine.

Our next destination is Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand, a place of great historical and cultural significance. Here, we will visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park, where you can explore the ruins of ancient palaces, temples, and fortresses that once were the heart of the kingdom. Highlights include Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon with its imposing reclining Buddha; Wat Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head entangled in tree roots; and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, known for its impressive pagodas.

We will end this fascinating day with check-in at your selected hotel in Ayutthaya, where you can rest and prepare for the next day of adventures.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel, we begin the second day of our 7 days in Thailand heading to Sukhothai. Our first stop is the impressive Wat Muang in Angthong, home to the largest Buddha in Thailand, standing approximately 95 meters tall. This temple is a place of awe, perfect for those looking for things to do on their Thailand journey.

Next, we head to Singburi, where we will visit the famous Wat Phra Non Chak Si Worawihan, which houses a 47-meter-long reclining Buddha, similar in majesty to the iconic Wat Pho in Bangkok.

Our next stop is Lopburi, known as the “City of Monkeys.” Here, we will visit Phra Prang Sam Yod, also known as the “Monkey Temple,” where these mischievous primates will accompany you as you explore one of the city’s most emblematic temples. Lopburi is one of Thailand’s oldest cities and offers a fascinating blend of history and nature, making it a must-see on your 7 days in Thailand adventure.

After a lunch break, we continue our journey to Sukhothai. On the way, you’ll observe how the landscape and vegetation change, providing stunning views before arriving at your selected hotel in Sukhothai, where you will end the day with a well-deserved rest.

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we head to one of Thailand’s most sacred sites, the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. During your 7 days in Thailand, you’ll have the chance to explore the archaeological remains of this impressive park. You can choose between a pleasant bike ride through the park’s expansive gardens or, if you prefer a more relaxed experience, opt for an electric tram.

One of the highlights of your visit will be Wat Si Chum, famous for its large white Buddha, one of Thailand’s iconic images.

After this fascinating visit, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant en route. With renewed energy, we’ll continue to the northern city of Nan, a destination still relatively unknown to international tourists and mostly visited by Thais. In Nan, we’ll enjoy a spectacular sunset from the top of Wat Phra That Khao Noi, which features a famous Buddha statue overlooking the stunning views of the city.

Finally, we’ll head to your selected hotel in Nan to rest and prepare for the next day of exploration.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will explore Nan, a province that retains an authentic and special charm in Thailand. With its picturesque temples, green rice fields, and lush landscapes, Nan offers a true glimpse of Thailand’s rural beauty. During this day of your 7 days in Thailand, we will visit some of the city’s most iconic temples, such as Wat Phumin, known for its intricate murals; Wat Ming Muang, notable for its traditional architecture; and Wat Sriphanton, a temple of great cultural significance.

After exploring these highlights, we will head to Phayao. There, we’ll enjoy a unique lunch by the shores of Lake Phayao, an authentic experience that allows you to appreciate the natural beauty while savoring local cuisine.

We will end the day at your selected hotel in Chiang Rai, preparing for the upcoming adventures of this fascinating 7 days in Thailand

After breakfast at the hotel, we will dedicate this day to exploring Chiang Rai’s most culturally significant sites. We will start with a visit to the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea), known for its stunning facade and blue-toned murals that create a visually captivating atmosphere.

Next, we will head to the Black House Museum (Baan Daam Museum), a unique and different destination. This museum is surrounded by black houses and features unusual decorations made from animal skins, bones, and jewelry, offering a distinctive perspective on Thai art and culture.

Optionally, and if informed in advance, we can make a stop at the Karen Tribes (Long Neck Women), an ethnic group originally from Burma that settled in northern Thailand due to conflicts and persecution. The entrance to this attraction is not included in the price and costs approximately 500 Baht per person. For those who prefer not to participate in this visit, you can wait around the Black House Museum for about 45 minutes, where you can relax and enjoy a coffee while the rest of the group visits the tribe.

We will continue our day by visiting the Big Buddha of Chiang Rai, or White Guanyin Statue (Wat Huay Plan Kang), an impressive figure located on top of a small hill, offering spectacular panoramic views.

After these visits, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant en route. Finally, the highlight of the day will be a visit to the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun), a globally renowned temple known for its unique architecture and symbolic white figures and designs.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will embark on a unique eco-friendly and respectful tourism experience at one of Thailand’s iconic sites: the Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, with a guided tour in Spanish.

During this 7 days in Thailand, accompanied by a Spanish-speaking official guide, we will learn about Asian elephants, focusing on their anatomy, behavior, and way of life. We will have the opportunity to interact closely with these majestic animals, participating in their daily activities such as feeding, skin care, and bathing them in the river or in ponds.

This sanctuary is involved in a project that ensures elephants are treated with respect and without abuse, as all the elephants have been rescued from centers where they were used for forced labor or tourist shows. At this sanctuary, elephant rides are not offered to ensure the animals’ well-being.

After our visit to the sanctuary, we will continue to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most iconic and well-known sites in Chiang Mai. In Doi Suthep National Park, we will discover the famous temple at the park’s summit, Wat Umong Cave Temple with its meditation area, and Wat Phra Lat Fortress Temple, hidden in Chiang Mai’s jungle. We will then head to Chiang Mai Lake, where we will enjoy lunch at bamboo tables by the water, just like the locals do.

Throughout the day, we will learn about the history and Buddhist rituals at less frequented temples and places. We will also taste typical northern Thai food and observe the life of monks in meditation temples, exploring local spots used on weekends, surrounded by greenery, water, flora, and fauna. A genuine immersion into non-touristy areas!

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed with check-out and head to Chiang Mai Airport for our return flight. It is important that you provide us with the airline name, flight number, and departure time before we leave to ensure a smooth transition at the end of your 7 days in Thailand.
